Revised and expanded in 2010. This 10-chapter course is designed for
refrigeration plant personnel. It is a foundation course that will help
individuals become knowledgeable and proficient in refrigeration
systems. Topics include fundamental items and concepts used by the
refrigeration plant operator in the course of duty, the refrigeration
cycle, physical properties of various refrigerants, refrigerant
performance tables, compressor types, compressor operation and
maintenance, lubrication, cooling units, condensers and high pressure
receivers and purging non-condensable gases from the refrigeration
system. Diagrams, tables, study questions, exams and a glossary help the
student bring key concepts into focus.
RETA study course workbooks, supplemented by instructor's presentation tools, provide widely used training aids designed specifically for the ammonia refrigeration industry. Thousands of these courses have been supplied to RETA local chapters for in-plant training programs, individual home study and use as textbooks in universities, junior colleges and trade schools.
A final exam is taken at the end of each RETA course. The lessons conclude with feedback questions to test understanding of the information presented.
